Happy Birthday, Dad!

Today is my dad's 67th birthday. We called him to sing Happy Birthday this morning, but unfortunately he had already gone to work. Grandma got to hear our song instead. Stephen told us that on the bus when the kids sing Happy Birthday to someone, they always say, "Are you 1? Are you 2? Are you 3?" etc. until they reach the birthday child's age. I told him it would take us too long to sing that part to Grandpa this morning. He can count way past 67, but the attention level of singing this into an inactive black phone just wouldn't have been there.

My dad:
* Is a Christian
* Is a husband
* Is a father
* Is a grandfather
* Is a friend
* Is a firstborn
* Is a comic
* Loves to do brainteaser games with kids
* Loves to discuss the Bible
* Loves to discuss computers
* Loves to save things
* Loves to tinker
* Loves popcorn
* Knows a lot of trivia
* Knows a lot of people
* Knows a lot of scripture
* Knows how much gasoline prices are all over the area
* Can talk to anyone
* Can use the tiniest scrap of paper to write a note
* Can play with the kids for hours without getting bored
* Can play the saxophone
* Can make people smile
* Has been a wonderful dad
* Has been married for 43 years
* Has had too many broken wrists (and other bones)
* Has a great family

Happy Birthday, Dad! We love you!

Yes! He's my dad, too! Mar, you have such a great way of expressing love for family. So tack on my Happy Birthday Yea for Dad!

Actually I was thinking about Dad today. When Grandpa died this fall his positive attitude was often cited as something remarkable about his character. Dad's positive attitude has its own flavor, but it's who he is. Dad hasn't had the easiest life (I know, no one has, but those of us close to him know a little more about his hard times) but he's almost always smiling, joking, enjoying, connecting. Dad has a gift for making others feel important and special. His is a great example for us to follow.

You have a GREAT dad, and we love him too. You need to add: Willing to go out of his way to help others, can fix almost anything, you can always count on him.....I could go on and on, and I'm only his sister in law.I think we could probably find at least 67 attributes for him! I"m thankkful you all appreciate your dad like you do. God bless you ALL!

You need to add that he has a humility quotient that absolutely shames the rest of us. And a unique sense of curiosity and adventure that most men leave behind. And a sweetness of character that draws others to him in any grouping of people.
