Trust and Obey

This old hymn by John Sammis has been constantly on my mind and heart this week. Please read the words. I know you've sung it a thousand times or more, but read the words.
TRUST and OBEY, for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus!!! But to trust and obey! God is really delighting in our family's need to trust and obey Him this week. We've had some serious times of trusting come up this week and Fred and I have an unusual calm that God is in control, which is comforting ... because we're not in control!

TRUST AND OBEY

When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

One of my favorite songs! So simple, so true. The more we trust and obey, the more peaceful, content, happy and blessed we are. I loved to teach that to our kids and the Sunday School kids. It speaks volumes! Thanks for sharing it with everyone!

thanks for the great reminder! I like when songs like this are 'stuck' in my head.

How are those chocolate cookies coming? I've been thinking about them...

Great song...great lesson. Sometimes it's hard to keep reminding myself to TRUST and OBEY. In the end, things work out to amazing answers to my problems.
Singing this throughout the day/week, reminds me of Gram P. as she hummed and worked all day long. Waking up with a song in my heart is another blessing.

One of the most consistent ways I hear the voice of God is when I listen to the song running through my head. Often I haven't heard it through my physical ears for a long time. But I KNOW to pay attention to the words...
